Imphal, February 15: Chief Electoral Officer, manipur has ordered fresh poll for 6/5 polling station in Keirao Assembly Constituency on February 16 from 7 am till 3.30 pm, informed a statement issued by Returning Officer, keirao Bitra.

The polling station is located at Kiyamgei Awang Leikai LP School.

It may be mentioned that some womenfolk snatched the electronic voting machine from the polling station yesterday evening.

On the other hand in connection with the EVM snatching incident, authorities of the Border Security force (BSF) had apprised the Chief Electoral Officer, manipur that its personnel were prevented from opening fire by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh who was also in the vicinity of the polling station when the incident took place.

According to report submitted by BSF authorities, about 200 women folk suddenly converged at the said polling station upon which the BSF personnel manning the polling booth tried to disperse the crowd by opening fire but was prevented from doing so by the CM.

minister Allaudin Khan, contesting from Keirao AC, was also present when the incident occurred, said the BSF report.

The report submitted to the CEO would be forwarded to Chief Election Commission of India, said source.
