Imphal, February 11: BJP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Sangh Priya Gautam today stressed the importance of installing a BJP Government or one participated by it saying it is the only means to bring about development in the State as development cannot be brought without central funding.

Speaking to reporters at the party office today, Gautam said that the general public has now started building confidence on the BJP led Vajpayee Ministry as they wanted a stable Government in the State.

He said that in case a coalition Government comes up in the State after the Assembly poll, as no party is able to get absolute majority, BJP wants the Government to be transparent.

Expressing regret that development has taken the backseat due to instability of successive Governments, he recalled that the State has more than 20 Chief Ministers since it attained Statehood, as there were no stable Governments.

As most of the previous regimes had jumbo sized Ministries, all the funds allotted by the Centre for development have gone to their pockets.

As such Manipur is facing under-development in all sectors, he said.

He claimed that the people in all the States of India have developed a dislike for regional parties and they are also withdrawing their faith in them.

On the other hand, the CPI, which is a national party, has been facing the crisis of losing its identity, he said.

The Congress party is also slackening; the BJP leader said adding that in the circumstances BJP has become the only viable party which will deliver the goods to the people.

Alleging that the Congress started the defection game, Gautam said that the Congress will never be able to install a stable Ministry as it cannot do without being at the helms of power.

Moreover, it is still a distant dream that the Congress will form the Government, he said.

Stating that there are fears that many unwanted incidents would occur in Manipur due to the divide and rule policy employed by the Congress and Rishang Keishing amongst the different communities of Manipur, the MP said the problems of the State will deepen once a Congress Government comes in the State.

On the controversial Senapati Declaration which saw 47 Naga candidates sign a pledge to work for Naga cause, Gautam said that having peace talks with the Centre for ending the Naga issue is okay.
