Imphal, October 08: United Committee Manipur (UCM) has expressed its gratitude to all the people of Manipur for their support and co-operation in making the 18-hour general strike called by it a success.

UCM also thanked the people for not allowing any untowards incident to occur during the strike.

The general strike was called in protest against intrusion and subsequent the release of 13 armed leaders of NSCN (I-M) by the State Government.

In a statement, UCM said that the incident has confirmed the hegemony of the Indian Government and the inherent weakness of the SPF Government.

Reaffirming its pledge to protect the territorial integrity of the State at any cost, UCM has announced its decision to intensify agitation and take up other democratic means of protest and has asked suggestion from the people in this regard.
