Meira Paibis take over from students

Imphal, August 05: After school and college students staged protest demonstration for three consecutive days in response to the call of AMSU, MSF and DESAM, women vendors and Meira Paibis of Bishnupur and Thoubal districts followed suit today to denounce the communal politics being played among the people of the North Eastern States, specially in Manipur.

At Bishnupur Bazar, the leaders of the student bodies which are jointly spearheading the agitation, addressed the demonstrators highlighting the implication of communal politics adopted by the Government of India to set one group of people against another.

The demonstration concluded with slogan shouting in union against such divisive policies.

At Moirang Bazar, Thanga Chinglak Bazar, Keibul Chingmei Bazar, Nambol Bazar, Oinam Bazar and Keinou Bazar women folks came out in large number to take part in the demonstration.

At Kakching Bazar and Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar of Thoubal district, the women vendors closed down the market for the day to take part in the protest demonstration.

The student leaders also addressed protestors at Wabagai Lamkhai cautioning them against the sinister designs of the divisive forces.

The demonstration also concluded with slogan shouting against the divide and rule policy of the Government of India.

Sit-in-protest demonstrations were also held at Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi, Pureiromba Khongangkhong, Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai and at Thangmeiband.
