While detailing the discussions at the July 30-31 executive council meeting of the North East Students� Organisation (Neso) held at Guwahati, AMSU today reasserted its pledge to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and reiterated that declaration of June 18 as state Integrity Day/Holiday should not be revoked under any circumstance.
Speaking to reporters at AMSU headquarters this evening, president Sinam Prakash and former general secretary Jotin Salam briefed newspersons on their participation and presentation at the guwahati congregation organised to deliberate on the economic blockade agitation.
In addition to highlighting difficult situation besetting the common people due to continuation of the ANSAM agitation the AMSU delegates conveyed at the meeting of strong resentment being felt by the people due to inept handling of the situation by the Government, they said while taking serious note of Naga Students� Federation joining the agitation.
A joint appeal was made by representatives of All Assam Students� union, Khasi students� union, Garo Students� union, All Arunachal Pradesh Students� Union, Mizo Zirlai Pawl and Tripura Students� Federation for review of NSF�s decision, informed Prakash.
he also stated of NSF speaker who attended the session of assuring at the NESO meeting to convey the joint appeal to leaders concerned of the Naga students� organisation.
Copies of Neso�s meeting resolution suggesting Manipur Government initiate negotiations with ANSAM representatives to end the highway impasse were also distributed to mediapersons present on the occasion.
The resolution copy also mentioned of urging NSF abstain from joining the agitation with directions to AMSU to prevail upon Manipur Government find early solution to the blockade agitation.
