Six persons filed nomination papers for candidature for ADC Chandel district which will go on poll in the first phase of the two-phase elections to the Manipur (Hills) District Council.
Meanwhile, the Ticket Committee of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) is scheduled to meet tomorrow at 3 pm at Congress Bhavan, BT Road to discuss fielding of party candidates in the first phase election, a source from the party said.
A source from the state election department said that six individuals have so far filed their nomination papers for candidature in Chandel district since the issue of notification.
Chandel District Council is among the three Councils which would go on poll on May 26.The district has a total of 9,436 voters.
These total voters are to elect 24 members of the Council.
One Korungthang (35), who filed his nomination paper for the Khoibu ADC constituency was the first person among the six who filed nomination papers in Chandel district.
On the other hand, Ticket Committee of MPCC is convening tomorrow at 3 pm at Congress Bhavan.
The meeting will discuss the fielding of party candidates in the three district councils of Chandel, Churachandpur and Sadar Hills which would go on poll on May 26 .
Congress is considering to contest in all the 72 seats (24 each in each council), a source of the party said adding that the meeting is being convened particularly for the finalization of the list of candidates who applied for the party tickets.
MPCC President Gaikhangam and Chief Minister O Ibobi are at present in New Delhi.
Many other leaders of the party are likely to attend tomorrow's meeting.
