Imphal, July 02 2010:
Some of the Naga Independent MLAs, who had submitted their resignation papers to the Speaker to protest the election to the ADCS, were visibly presently at the meeting of the Hill Areas Committee of the Assembly today.
The meeting was convened by the Deputy Secretary of Hill Areas Committee in the Committee Room (A) of the Assembly Secretariat at around 11.30 am today to discuss the issue of inclusion of Khoibu tribe in the recognised Schedule Tribes' list of the Government of Manipur.
The meeting, however, was postponed as it fell short of the required quorum.
In order to attend the meeting, some of the Naga Independent MLAs out of seven of them who have already submitted their respective resignation letters came to the Assembly Secretariat.
The Naga Independent MLAs have tendered their resignations in protest against the decision of the State Government to ban entry of NSCN (IM) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah to Manipur.
However, the Assembly Speaker is yet to accept their resignation letters.
