Imphal, October 16: Attributing lack of response to its mass protest call due to imposition of the day-long curfew on the first day yesterday, United Committee Manipur said massive sit-in-protest would begin at Thoubal and Bishnupur districts tomorrow.

Talking to the Sangai Express today, UCM president Sapamcha Jadumani said due to MPLF general strike and imposition of curfew at Greater Imphal areas specific mobilization to start the five day mass protest could not be carried out.

If the State Govt persists with curfew in the twin capital districts the ire of the people would be aggravated, he cautioned while terming the Govt's attitude as gagging the aspiration of the people to air their grievances and save the land through peaceful means.

The State public will consistently consider the Government as anti-people in case the same restraints continue, he said adding UCM's demands are crystal clear, meaningful and indispensable for the whole of Manipur.

Asked to comment on the proposed visit of the Prime minister to Manipur later in the month, Jadumani said all demands have been placed before the Manipur Government who sadly enough has yet to provide a positive response.
