Imphal, April 10: Following the refusal of the NSCN (IM) to hand over the three suspects in its custody to the State Police to proceed with the investigation into the kidnapping and later murder of Hriini Hubert and Muheni Martin, the State Government has moved the Court and obtained warrant of arrest against the Kilo Kilonser of NSCN (IM) Puni and Deputy Kilonser of the MIP, Kraibo Chawang.

Similarly warrants of arrest have also been issued against two of the three suspects, Brown Tangkhul and Manikho.

Disclosing this to The Sangai Express a high ranking police officer said that the arrest warrant will be sent to the SP of Dimapur police to effect the arrest of the two NSCN (IM) leaders.

The warrant will be sent to the SP tomorrow, said the police officer and added that the warrants against the two accused will also be sent soon.

The warrants against the two accused were issued by the CJM of Senapati yesterday.

The officer explained that arrest warrant against the third accused, Adai was not obtained as the State Police do not have details about his involvement in the said case.

The Court will also be moved soon to declare Brown Tangkhul and Manikho as proclaimed offenders in a few days time, said the police officer and added action such as attaching their properties will be taken until they surrender.

The State Government approached the Court under the instructions and advice of the Union Home Ministry.

On the other hand, the Core Committee, which has been rechristened the Fact Finding Committee has started a joint interrogation of the three accused along with the NSCN (IM) at Camp Hebron from today.

The Core Committee was first formed in connection with the kidnapping of the two kids and later assumed the new name after the kids were found murdered.

Speaking to The Sangai Express Chairman of the Fact Finding Committee, Solomon Veino said that the joint interrogation of the three suspects have started at Camp Hebron from today.

The joint interrogation is expected to finish tomorrow, said Solomon and added that the arrest warrants secured by the police just shows that they have not done their job.

The State Government had earlier approached the Centre to pressurise the NSN (IM) to hand over the three suspects to the State Police so that it can proceed with the investigation into the case.

However till date the NSCN (IM) has shown no inclination to hand over the suspects to the State Government.

The police had also earlier maintained that since the suspects are in the custody of the Naga rebel group, they were facing major handicaps in proceeding with the investigation.

Hriini Hubert and Muheni Martin were kidnapped on December 14 last year and their skeletal remains were discovered on March 27 at a hillock at Senapati.

The NSCN (IM) had sought a one week extension to wrap up the case.
