Students continue with sit-in-protests

Imphal, August 02: Under the joint aegis of AMSU, DESAM and MSF widespread sit-in-protests, particularly in the valley areas, were staged today to denounce the alleged communal politics and failure of Central and State Governments to resolve the economic blockade impasse.

On the second day of the protest today, students of GP Women�s College, TG Higher Secondary School and 1st Manipur Rifles School who converged at the Jailroad Road street-side attempted to use loud-speakers during the agitation but security personnel present at the site foiled it.

Besides putting up banners with messages of �unity is strength�, �preserve peaceful academic atmosphere�, �long live Manipur� and calls for protection of Manipur�s territorial integrity the agitators raised slogans against inaction by the Central and State authorities inspite of the fact that the blockade has already completed a month.

Similar protests were staged by students of ST Ras Montessori (Uripok Sorbon Thingel), Students E/S (Checkon), lilong sec/S, International Modernised Academy (Liwa Road), MBC Hr Sec/S, Regent Hr Sec/S (Sagoltongba), Paramount E/S (Masjid Road), Yourabung H/S, Yumshang Academy (Sagolband), Yumshang Hr Sec/S, nambol naorem Jr H/S, Sofia HS (Canchipur), Manipur public School (Koirengei), Maria Montessori School (Koirengei), Irilbung H/S, Top Dussara H/S, Shree Digambar Jain Mahavir Hr Sec/S, Sangai Hr Sec/S (Mantripukhri), special Regular E/S (Nambol), City Montessori (Lamphel), Phoijing No 6 Jr H/S, Brilliant academy (Nambol), Tensubam Doren Academy (Nambol), Leiren Girls Hr Sec/S, St John E/S, Friendship Educational Academy (Khurai), standard Robarth E/S (Canchipur), Bashikhong Panthoibi Jr H/S, Azad H/S (Kyamgei) and Collegiate H/S.
