Battle lines predicted for Thangmeiband A/C

Imphal, December 14: Predicting that the BJP and the NCP will put up a fight against the Congress at Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency, aspiring Congress candidate Waikhom Jyotin today said that though the fight will come from these parties, they do not have much of a chance in the said constituency.

Talking to the medai today, Jyotin Waikhom, who is not only the chairman of Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency Development Forum but also the president of Lamphelpat Protection Committee, said BJP and NCP have no chance of consolidating their position in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.

He claimed that Congress is in a better position than BJP and NCP and would win the election in Thangmeiband AC.

Despite being located in the heart of Imphal city, the developmental scenario in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency is not satisfactory, he said, adding that people of the Constituency do not know where and how the MLA Local Area Development Fund is being utilised.

While pledging that the Lamphelpat Protection Committee would continue with its effort of protecting/conserving Lamphelpat and its surrounding area, Jyotin said the Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency Development Forum has not only been providing financial assistance to aged people it has also contributed fund to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund in 1987.Jyotin, who is also the vice president of Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, hoped that he would be given the ticket by the Congress party to contest in the forthcoming Assembly election from Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.
