Imphal, May 24 2010:
Reacting to the call for peace made by the Naga Leaders Forum, Manipur and published under the heading "Naga Leaders' Forum appeal for peace" in the May 24 issue, the Tangkhul Naga Frontal Organisation (Against ADC Election 2010) has alleged that the forum has neither roots nor authenticity.
Asserting that the economic blockade on NH-39 and NH-53 is to protest the failure of the Government's to rectify the anomalies in the ADC Act 2008 and restrictions imposed against visiting NSF officials, it alleged that the Government of Manipur should be held solely responsible for any mayhem or trouble.
The TFO also lamented the presence of such black sheep amidst the Naga people.
It further warned persons or mechanisms distorting the historical rights of the Nagas in the name of democratic process.
Reacting to the same appeal, the ANSAM alleged the forum was floated by some disgruntled individuals with the intention to mislead the people and gain cheap popularity.
Saying that the decision to reject the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act 3rd Amendment Act 2008 was adopted after due consultation at village and tribe level, it alleged that the Naga Leaders Forum crying foul against the decision to justify and legitimize their position amounts to selling the rights of hill people.
