UNC/ANSAM own office ransacking

Imphal, Aug 22: The United Naga Council (UNC) and All Naga Students Associations of Manipur has owned up the responsibility of ransacking ZEO offices in four hill districts in the wee hours of August 21.In a joint statement, the two Naga bodies said that the act was part of a phase-wise agitations in protest against the provocative statement of Education Minister Nandakumar branding Naga civil societies as "Terrorist".

Earlier as part of the agitation the two Naga bodes has imposed a 48 hours total bandh in four hill districts.

The statement said they were also compelled to ransack the ZEO offices to express their resentments against the Manipur Govt's policy to absorb private school students in Govt.schools by giving them assurance of unconditional accommodation.

The two bodies also made it clear that no form of oppression or suppression should daunt the Naga students' aspiration for free and fair system of education, it added.

Warning not to disturb the expression of student's democratic will, it applauded the expression of Naga school students' desire for common pattern of education by appending their signatures on post cards addressed to Prime Minister of India, urging for his permission to affiliate their school to NBSE.

It also warned the Govt that series of agitation will continue if they (Govt) continue to oppress the Naga's right.
