Imphal, August 08: Cash incentive reward awaits the Manipuri women players who are representing the country in the Beijing Olympics which kicks off from today when they return home even without winning any medals in their respective discipline.

In appreciation of the Manipuri women players who have been able to participate in the biggest sporting event, Nongmeikapam Ningol Jayanti of Keishampat Aheibam Leikai has announced cash reward of Rs 5000 each to all the three players when they return home.

In case, any of the players able to win any medal in their respective competition, then the cash reward would be increased to Rs 10,000, Jayanti told mediapersons today.

Wife of Dr W Ibohal, who is the head of department of ENT of RIMS, Jayanti is working as an SO in Horticulture Department of the Govt.As to the controversy over the dope test on weightlifter Laishram Monika, Jayanti, who is also the vice president of Manipur Masters Athletic Association observed that the last minute announcement that Monika failed in dope test was very unfortunately.

She said that even if the result of the re-test to be conducted on Monika turns out to be negative, the heads of the Government should not remain contended.

Instead necessary action should be taken up against those responsible not only for trying to tarnish the image of an upcoming player but also causing wide spread resentment among the people of the State.
