Imphal, January 18: IG CRPF Manipur and Nagaland Sector Sunil Kumar Jain has stated that the seriousness of the election to the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly can be gauged from the move to deploy Central Paramilitary forces in all the polling stations.

Talking with The Sangai Express at his Langjing Group Centre CRPF office today, Sunil Kumar said necessary security arrangement has been made with maximum alertness to ensure free and fair conduct of the election with close co-ordination with the State administration and its police forces.

Among the Central Paramilitary forces to be deplo yed for the election which would be held in three-phase, a total of 115 companies of CRPF would be pressed into service, he disclosed, adding that the maximum number of CRPF companies deployed in the earlier elections was 25 to 30.Terming the instructions given by the Election Commission to the security forces as very strict, the IG disclosed that all the CRPF personnel to be deployed for the election duty would be given pre-poll briefing on the dos and don't thoroughly.

As pre-poll security arrangement, 19 companies of CRPF have already been deployed and more forces are expected to arrive here for the election duty after the Republic Day celebration, the IG further said.

Meanwhile, according to a reliable source, Deputy Election Commissioner JP Prakash would be arriving at Imphal tomorrow to monitor the preparation being made for the three-phased State Assembly election.

The Deputy Commissioner would also be visiting Ukhrul and Senapati district which would go to poll in the first phase.
