Imphal, August 02:
Reiterating demand for unconditional release of Kh Romeshkumar alias Sanamacha and Leishangthem meiraba, AMSU, DESAM and MSF warned of intensifying its ongoing agitation.
Strongly condemning indifferent attitude of the State Govt to demands placed by the three students bodies a joint statement issued today took serious note of State Govt attempting to implicate innocent student activists in the Pebam Chittaranjan Mangang self-immolation case.
Rather than initiate steps to resolve the current economic blockade the State Govt at the behest of the Central leaders is attempting to suffocate genuine outcry for removal of AFSPA from manipur, charged the bodies referring to the arrests of Romeshkumar and Meiraba.
It had been proved beyond doubt that Chittaranjan self-immolated to protest continuation of the repressive Act and as such arrest of student activists under concocted charges reflects the divide and rule policy of of the Centre with State Govt as the propagator, it alleged appealing for cooperation from all concerned to its on-going agitation on the twin issue of economic blockade and demand for unconditional release of the duo.
