Telephone Communication to Manipur

Telephone Communication to Manipur
For the past couple of weeks, Telephone call to Manipur from outside Manipur has become an exercise in futility. Lots of people who lived outside Manipur and who wants to communicate to their near and dear ones have been left in the lurch due this lack of telecommunication channel.
E-pao.net has compile a list of mail we received till date in the hope that this will get the attention of the concerned authorities

You can also post a mail to [email protected] asking about this 'ex-tele-communicado'.

You may also want to check out BSNL North East website.

anyway, please do act fast... restore as before...

Because we rely on you people a lot...

[Wed, 22 Jan 2003 05:56:13 -0800]

What`s up with the people of manipur and the society... seems no one cares a damn about the telecom problem hanging fire for the past few days .....

Hey cowboys (I mean the govt. thugs) out there since you people can't get the telecom line going for the past few months then how are we going to exist as a state ...

I wonder how many of us have got the guts to really think and act something so that we can get out of this hellhole ...leave about the state boundary issue ... you can't handle all those ...first learn how to solve such small problems ..then you will go into the big league ... making noises is of no use in todays world

So govt guys please take some advice and solve this problem first.

Great relieved to get line connection to manipur

[Sat, 18 Jan 2003 08:17:16 -0800]

Dear editor of e-pao

It was great relieved to get line connection to manipur from far off place like b'lore. I was really surpirsed to get connected when I was trying to my parents. This is the only way to cu\ommunicate with our dear and near ones at home. This is the only lifeline for us who are staying away from motherland manipur.

Hope this will continue without having any probelms in the future. It is necessary for the Govt of manipur to take some urgent actions not to prolong such a problems in the future. This is the time our govt to wake up and do something for the people of Manipur.

A love message to my beloved

[Sat, 18 Jan 2003 08:50:20 -0500]

To be in touch online has been a fruitful means of communication between my beloved and me. But for the past couple of months, we both are dyin' to hear each other's voice. The reason being we got married recently. Having shared some two months matrimonial relations, I m here for my further academic pursuits. What I do concern all about is just the line be ok for some seconds and ask her how is she. That's all I pray for. I don't want to blame anybody about the failure of this telecommunication network. The reason being it's part and parcel of our state.

We the sufferers have to make ourself conducive to such lethargic circumstances of our ill-fated state. One can't understand my feeling. It has touched the innermost core of my heart. Whom to complain, whom to share my unhappiness, my restless mind. The answer is definitely nil. Just to make myself cool and hear the computerised dull voice which reads as "all lines on this route are busy, pliz call after sometime."

I may be lucky sometime and my beloved's sweet shivering voice may wash off all my sweats in a single moment. No more concrete hope pliz but face the prevailing plight with bravery.

Have patience.

From,
Bobby Hanjabam

At last, it is working :)

[Fri, 17 Jan 2003 02:53:51 -0800 (PST)]

Did anyone check out? I called home today morning and I told my friends to call their parents in Manipur. We all got lines. I'm not saying that lines are good. What I mean is that it is as good as before we had the complete disconnection problem. If the broad band STD cards are returned (whoever thieves that stole it), then we are supposed to get almost 100 percent free lines.

Anyway, we can at least talk to people at home after a few tries.

How long are you planning to sleep?

[Fri, 17 Jan 2003 02:53:51 -0800 (PST)]

Hello! sleeping govt. of Manipur,

How long are you planning to sleep? The world have reach the skies and the star but you are still lying in ur cocoon, when mobile are on the hot run you are not even able to manage your one telephone line. I wonder the way Manipur handle by the top leaders who shouting on their top of lungs for development, but are you working for it. Why is the state far far behind from development when other state's have reach an imaginable heights. Are you taking initiative to see what the real problem is? It's not only telephone's line I m talking of, the entire state has become rotten you know that and the entire people of this state that, then why is there no solution for anything are you backing out, if yes step down from where you are and let other who are fit handle it.

Everyday in the paper you find this has started for the development and that for that but do you see it no matter what the problem. Get up and get out now from that cocoon or you will be there as always and you will not be able to get out. The pathetic state of our state will always remain if don't do it now

Whats happening to the telephone exchange ?

[Fri, 17 Jan 2003 02:53:51 -0800 (PST)]

Sir/Madam,
Kindly do solve the problem as we need to communicate with our parents. We stay far from home so we can't meet our parents/friends/ family for long but we feel nice as we speak to each other even though we can't see each other face. People of telephone exchange are not at least bothered as they are getting their salary ? If their income stop , they will go on strike that is for sure.
Please try to do it fast .
Thanking you.

Security at sensitive points

[Thu, 16 Jan 2003 00:10:27 -0800]

Dear Sir,
This is third time I am writing and believe me I am literally p*****d off. If at all the news of removal of wide band cards from Tameglong is correct I suppoose, the State govt. should initiate immediate action to mobilise security forces at identified sensitive points so that the miscreants cannot do it again. Today it is Tamenglong, tomorrow it can anywhere and we will be slipping to the same problem. But first, somehow get the cards back or install new ones. It's high time.

In case if you have E mail IDs of Ministers or concern people, please do pass it on through E pao so that we can write to them also directly.

But I wonder and fail to understand how people can be so ignorant, incompetent and senseless.

How backward our Manipur is?

[Wed, 15 Jan 2003 03:52:08 -0800]

The present situation of Manipur shows how far we are lacking as compared to other parts of nation. The unavailability of phone connection is the burning issue now. In todays world of communication the world has become so small but unfortunately see our Manipur, it seems as if we are living in the early age of civilization. Still at that time there were some other means of communication be it through pigeon or some other means, it seems they were more civilized than today's Manipur. The thing is the Government of Manipur is keeping a deaf ear to it. They don't ever bother about those people staying outside Manipur specially students.

I think now it is high time to try and do something by the public, if not then it go on deterioriating day by day and ultimately we the people is going to suffer.

Alternative means of communication such as cell phone

[Tue, 14 Jan 2003 09:26:34 -0800]

Manipur need to look for an alternative means of communication such as cell phone if the people want to stay current. We can no longer depend on corrupt government, who can't even pay their bill anymore for modern communication need.

What are the concerned authorities and people of Manipur doing about this?

[Tue, 14 Jan 2003 02:10:15 -0800]

The present telecommunication problem is faced not only by people outside Manipur, but by those in Manipur as well. What are the concerned authorities and people of Manipur doing about this? What about trade and commerce? don't we all need to communicate, eat? Or are we all a victim to a deadened brain suffering from pins and needles or are we simply adopting the escapist mode and hoping that we are all taking an eternal nap? It's high time we woke up.

Telephone line is being kept out service for months

[Mon, 13 Jan 2003 05:23:44 -0800]

Dear friends

It is such a disgrace for the people of our state that the telephone line is being kept out service for months and we the common people take whatever is given to us it is time to kick out discrepancies and think for a better Manipur. Damn the revolution parties who don't care a damn about the common people who think that their job is to collect money from the public. We are not going forward but we are going back to the Stone Age civilizations no phones water problems light problems and only the common man suffers. We should all give a thought for the betterment of the state. Otherwise the d-day is not far.
Corruption, poverty will eat us up. It is time to wake up before it is too late.

[ Mon, 13 Jan 2003 03:53:59 -0800]

Last one a half months, we are trying to communicate to our family, but couldn't able to get the line. It is horrible for the people like us those who are staying outside of Manipur. The technology is growing so fast but it is shameful that our Manipur Govt. is not able to solve this problem.

It is a national shame

[Mon, 13 Jan 2003 02:40:00 -0800]

It is a national shame that the telephone line of a state is not working for so many days. What the hell are the telecom people are doing in Manipur? They should be ashamed of themselves especially the hon"ble ministers. I am on a cultural exchange programme & trying to contact the concerned people to confirm certain details. I come from a progressive state of karnataka. Who wants to visit a wretched state like manipur which is so unfriendly with their efficiency.

Shame! Shame! Shame!

Will this problem be solved or be ever like this?

[Mon, 13 Jan 2003 00:33:23 -0800]

To whom it may be concerned,

I myself a student in Bangalore request the concerned telephone exchange(of Manipur) authority to make me clear about the current hell like problem of phone line. We know that all Indian local numbers have been converted into seven digits and it do take time for around four-five days or a maximum of a seven days. The very good instance is of darjeeling, they took only five days and after the next day the line was working perfectly. And what is this with Manipur(known as Sanaleipak)going down day by day. It's a very shamful way, going every time to telephone booth and coming out without making any call each time. This is not only the thing but it is a big problem for student staying out of Manipur.

For me I have to complete my project before 25th of Jan. and for this I need extra money which I have to explain to my parents clearly. There is a thousand of student like me having a lot of personnel problems. Hope this problem will be sorted out at right time. Thank you.

Ch.birjit

Manipur had done a great job

[Sun, 12 Jan 2003 02:14:36 -0800]

Hi to everyone out there,

Just came to know that we Manipuris had done a great job by not even attending to the telecom problem..... what the hell is going on out there in Manipur...no one seems to even care about a basic decent living .... and most of all we seem not to care much about communication ..Well there`s a problem but then that has to be attended otherwise our great grandfathers are not going to come down from heaven and solve it..... then there`s our ahanlol who doesn`t seem to care much about all these ...the bureaucrats stink and most of all the great naharols ....everytime they will interfere in our lives ...Why people can`t work hard and live a decent life ... by the way what is the telecom department doing ....if it`s not functioning close it down so that we as manipuris can become extinct sooner... to hell with this sick state

lost and desperate soul

Why in our Manipur?

[Sun, 12 Jan 2003 00:29:43 -0800]

Hai!

Now a days the telecommunication becoming bad day by day in Manipur. In other states the communication mechanism is very good and effective. Why in our Manipur? Manipur? Manipur? connection only outgoing is accepted no incoming. The people who are going for medical treatment does not get any means for telephone communication. What will be the condition of the Manipur (Imaleibak) in future. But we have to try our best so that the trouble is free in Manipur

Loken.

[Sat, 11 Jan 2003 23:07:49 -0800 ]

Dear E Pao team,

This is the second time I am writing. I wonder what is happening. Please confirm on someone's writing from Bangalore on Stolen Cards. Even if it is true , what the **** has these people in BSNL been doing throughout the last 2 ****in' months. If they are so irresponsible, it is better to privatise the whole sector and kick out whoever is so incompetent. I Know! Then there will be another strike. But there is no difference, whether strike or no strike. Kick these incompetent people out.

E pao team, are you guys really doing something about this problem or this icon will just vanish from the page after three four days. Kindly confirm at #####@rediffmail.com.

Wake up manipur!!!!

[Fri, 10 Jan 2003 23:38:33 -0800]

First of all, I would like thank the modern day technology of communication, which makes us so comfortable for communication. Unfortunately, that is not case for us (we, Manipuris staying outside the state). It's really an insult for us. The last time I spoke to my parents, (even gal fens) was - Diwali season, Ningolchakouba, I believe. After that not able get at all. I dont know who create all these problems.

From my personnel point of view, it is an attack to evrything. It is more or less a BIG TERRORISM. It is inconvient for everybody.

Last but not the least, I would request the concern dept/people to look into the matter, and make it alright at the earliest.

hi,

Thanks to the e-pao for this opportunity. It is most welcome and very considerate of you people at e-pao. thanking you.

Make an alternative way

[Fri, 10 Jan 2003 02:09:21 -0800]

People living outside of Manipur are facing a lot of problems mainly for students. Students living in hostels got many warning letters for closing their rooms because of not paying bills.

Govt. must try to make some alternative way for urgent communication with families and manipuri living outside.

Thanking you

Could be it connected with stolen STD cards?

[Thu, 9 Jan 2003 20:07:58 -0800]

This is second one I'm posting... first one being a little bit frustrated one. I'm just wondering if the problem is connected with the STD cards stolen by NSCN. I know that stolen cards were fresh and new. So, we are supposed to get communications as good/bad as before. But what if BSNL or telecom related departments have intentionally worsened the problem as a sweet revenge on the people for the milittants acts. I also remember that the stolen STD cards made big national news.

Is anyone aware of any such fishy things happening? It is just a suspicion. Earlier, if I dialed from Bangalore, it took a few seconds of search before the automatic records voice could say "all lines in this route are busy, please try after sometime...". And now, before I complete the dialing, immediately I hear a realy sickening male voice played in a loop. And I really doubt if this voice is coming from Manipur exchange or Bangalore exchange itself. If I dial some other states number, it take a few seconds doing the routings through exchanges and line get connected.

What I want to tell after lengthy story is that it is not just "all lines engaged", but something fishy going on in the STD service providers itself.

Seems I have been marooned to some other planet

[Thu, 9 Jan 2003 09:10:43 -0800]

BON JOUR!
All the staffs of e-pao and bethren of Kangleipak

Well, thanks a lot to E-pao for letting me to share my nostalgicness to all the brothers, sisters & frens who are really far away from me. To me communication with family means a lot as I am, most of the time, stays far away from India due to my work. Frankly speaking, I am really sorry about the things(communication gap)happening around.

But it seems no initiative has been taking place since its crossing months. We should do something othwrwise nothing is going to happen Coz we know who are the people setting up on the chair counting the money. Rite now, I am in a place call Korinthos (Greece) and I feel that I am the most unlucky person among my fren, who can't even give a christmas or New Year Wishes verbally to the near & dear one although the actual days are gone.

It seems I am totally cut off this planet, onces more thanks to e-pao for being with me through this sad time.

Yaiphare!!!!
Boi,
Korintas(GRECCE)
