I am fine here, I spoke with Tamo somi, Rajoo, Fran , Rita , Sunil , Armand and rest of the people who called up yesterday. I sopke with Nancy as well yesterday and we all are still anxiously waiting for Tamo Jupiter. Tamo Dilip is with Nancy at Beacon. I went to few Hospital yesterday and i did not find his name in the injured list. However, I had left his name and my contact number if any thing pops up. Rajoo and Fran checked the hospital on the west side. We are praying and hoping for the Best.

I spoke with Rajoo Sharma and exchanged voice mails with Rajeshwar Laishram of NYC. Both of them are fine. While I was talking with Rajoo, he was talking with his cousin Anil Sharma as well.

We are all however very concerned about Jupiter Yambem who works at the WTC on the top floor. His status is not known at this time. Everyone is frantically trying to locate him. Let us all pray for his safety.

Although the flights were destined for CA, no manipuris were in the flights. All of us in California are doing fine, Sudeep and Olivia Khuraijam, Dave Laishram, Gautam and Garima Thockchom, Niang Hangzo and family, Thien, Lili Haokip and family, Jonathan Zinkhai are all fine. We however expect to hear the worst of other friends as they release the passenger lists.

Although all airports are closed and flights have been cancelled, the Govt and people are determined to continue to function. Govt offices, Schools and business are open today in California.

As you must have seen in the TV, the WTC housed many stores restaurants and many offices, including offices from 26 countries. Many of those businesses employ a huge number of Indians. Morgan Stanley had 50 floors in the bldg. with 3500 employees, many of whom have not been accounted for, many of them Indians. Sun Microsystems who also employs hundreds of Indians had two floors on the 23 and 23rd floors. Internal Sun memos state that ALL of those employees have been accounted for and are safe.

Once again we all pray for Jupiters' safety and hope for the best.

If anyone is having difficulties getting information about a friend or family, please post it on e-pao net. I will be monitoring the site all day long today and will be calling on friends. You can also send me emails with your friend/families contact info by email at [email protected] and I will try and contact them for you.

Praying for the Victims and families

We have been following the news of the terrorist attack in the US anxiously. Still now the number of people killed or hurt in the building at WTO is not clear. Many people are yet unaccounted for.

We are not affected directly at our place at Michigan State. Our family is safe and our are trying to gather information about other Manipuri friends in the affected areas. Communication is difficult both in New York and in Manipur.

Thanks to E-pao for posting this message board. We are praying for the victims in the hijacked airplanes, on the ground and their families.

Dear fellow Manipuris:

As you all know the United State was hit by a terrible act of terrorism yesterday, September 11th, 2001. This act of terrorism has impacted us all. There are several people from Manipur/Nagaland and North East India in the New York, Washington area. Phone lines are jammed in the NYC area. Phones to India are jammed as well. People are finding it difficult to contact their friends, families and loved ones.

The Manipur.com site will be used during this time of crisis as an information clearing house for those who are trying to locate and contact their loved ones. If you are trying to locate or get in touch with a loved one or a friend, please send and email to [email protected] with name, address, phone number and/or any information available about your friend. We will use our network of friends to locate your friend(s) and loved one(s) and publish updates regularly.

All those folks in the US who would like their friends and families know that they are safe, please send email to [email protected] with your name and any information your would like to publish.

We at Manipur.com will try and keep the information as current as possible. We are currently establishing contacts with known people in the NYC/Washington area. We will be publishing updates, as they become available.
