Donation of Books to Manipur State Library by E-Pao

Imphal, April 13, 2005: Stepping up their agitation to demand the implementation of Meetei Mayek from this year, MEELAL activists set on fire the State Central Library today at about 4.30 pm destroying books worth over Rs 10 crores besides damaging a large chunk of the building.
In a statement MEELAL said that the library was set on fire to signal the intensification of the agitation.

This is followed by outcry of people all over the world lamenting the loss by this act. And they were not even talking about the 10 crore plus rupees!

The Librabrian appealed to the public for help in re-building the library.

E-pao also ran an appeal for contribution to rebuild the Library.
Team E-Pao! decided to do something on this regard.

Some funds were raised internally and on 22 October, two representatives visited a big book store and picked up a few books.

Incidently, all the books deals with varied topics of the Information Technology. These books were packed in one cartoon box and were sent to Imphal.

In November 2005, 3 representatives of E-Pao went over to the Library having made an appointment with the Chief Librarian for that day. Our representatives returned dejected as the chief Librarian did not turn up for the appointment or even later that day.

Not about to give up, another representative contacted the Library and met the Technical Librarian on Nov 2005. He warmly welcome the contribution and the act is completed!
