A large number of people formed human chains on Airport road (Tiddim Road), Imphal on May 26th 2025 (Organized by COCOMI) demanding an apology from the Governor and protested the outrageous Gwaltabi incident of May 20 when troops of Mahar Regiment forced an MST bus to conceal its signage "Manipur State Transport" .

On May 20 2025, troops of Mahar Regiment of Indian Army on duty at one of the security check-posts along Imphal-Ukhrul at Gwaltabi in Imphal East before entering Ukhrul district jurisdiction forced to cover the word 'Manipur' from the signage of Manipur State Transport (MST) bus ferrying a media team. The bus sponsored by state DIPR was going to cover the opening function of the 5th Shirui Festival in Ukhrul district.
