Protesters at Moirangkhom in Imphal, including Youth of Manipur volunteers, Thawai Mirel, and Relief Camp inmates, faced tear gas fired by security forces on 18 January 2024 .
They marched towards the Chief Minister's residence to address rising Kuki militant attacks in Meitei-inhabited areas, especially on state police commandos in Moreh.
Heavily armed Kuki militants gun down two IRB men at Moreh - Wangkhem Somorjit (35), son of (L) Chaoton of Malom Mayai Leikai, and Takhellambam Saileshwore (38), son of (L) Babu of Lamsang Akham.
