Imphal, July 13 2009: Ksh Yaiphabi and N Premjit registered contrasting victories to respectively wrest the ladies' and men's singles titles of the 6th Governor Trophy Tennis Championship at Officers' club Tennis Court today.

In a fiercely contested ladies' final, Yaiphabi overcame Y Elizabeth 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 while Premjit grabbed the men's title with a convincing 6-4, 6-1 defeat of T Brojen.

H Puja of Thau won the under-14 girls' crown with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ksh Linthoi (ESU) while the boys' final in this category was won by L Amarjit of ESU who prevailed over H Becker 6-3, 6-0 .

The boys' under-12 title was bagged by Kelvin Golmei of THAU who cruised past T Bonny (ESU) at 6-1, 6-2 .

MOA president Bijoy Koijam and its vice president I Hemochandra distributed prizes to the position winners as chief guest and president respectively of the closing function of the championship organised by the Manipur Tennis Association.
