AR, NEROCA to clash in CC Meet final

Imphal, December 09 2011: Assam Rifles Soccer Team and NEROCA, Sangakpham will clash in the final of the 55th CC Meet football tournament at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on December 11 at 1.30 pm.

The Assam Rifles team reached the summit round after a solitary goal defeat of USA, Khurai in the second semifinal today.

An L Thoithoiba essay from near the halfway line saw Akum Ao lob over the Khurai custodian for the only goal in the 36th minute.

Akum was declared man of the match carrying a cash prize of Rs 1000 and T-shirt sponsored by e-pao.net portal.

Assam Rifles have won the prestigious tournament for a record nine times besides finishing runners-up in 1960 .

On the otherhand, USA last won the crown in 1993 while in 1973 it was declared joint winners.
