With a competition haul of 36 points Imphal Riding Club emerged as the overall champion of the 6th Director General Assam Rifles Cup State Equestrian Championship which concluded today at imphal pologround with the Director General (AR) Lt Gen KS Yadava gracing the closing the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
IGAR (S) Maj Gen AK Choudhury and Manipur Equestrian Association president Dr S Joykumar Singh were the other dignitaries present at the occasion.
Manipur Police Sports Club finished second on 16 points followed by Chingkheihunba Polo Club (12), Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club (10), Meiraba Polo Club (8) and KRYPSA (4) in descending order.
The final day saw Th Gautam of IRC winning the senior show jumping individual title with the least penalty point of 12 relegating MPSC's T Pradeepkumar (16/1.35) and L Thomson (16/1.38) of Meiraba PC to the second and third place respectively.
In senior tent pegging lance team Meiraba PC-A quartet of L Thomson, Ch Ajit, H Papak and O Roger rode to glory with a collective haul of 12 points while MPSC (113) and IRC (103) respectively occupied the second and third spots.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Yadava appreciated efforts of HQs IGAR (S) and MEA to save the Manipuri ponies from extinction and give boost to the sport in the State.
He also expressed confidence of the DGAR Cup Equestrian Championship in the contribution of reviving the sport of man and animal and bring the State on the national and international arena.
