Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) is assured of being crowned the champions of the inaugural Manipur State League football tournament after completing its engagement in the double-leg competition with a 9-0 thrashing of SAI RC, Takyel at the latter's ground.
With the convincing victory margin, TRAU has 53 points three more than nearest opponent AMOFA of Moirang.
AMOFA lost its last match against SSU, Singjamei 1-4 at MU ground, Canchipur.
SSU is placed at third position on 47 points.
In another match of the day, ESU defeated NEROCA 2-0 at Luwangshangbam with Subash netting both the goals in the second half.
NEROCA finished its campaign on 36 points one more than ESU.
Only one match remains in the tournament and will feature MPSC against PYC, Phouden.
TRAU showed little sign of mercy against the bottom of the table SAI who was also beaten in the first leg tie 4-1.The champions began with Lunminlal Khongsai scoring his first of two goals in the match in the fourth minute.
His second came in the 13th.
However, Saikhohao Tuboi hogged the limelight in the match with a total of four goals (24th, 34th, 41st, 66th).A brace from M Romi (62nd, 72nd) and one by S Bungthoi in the 31st minute completed the demolition of SAI.
The SSU goals came through R Banny Chiru (7th), Charan Rai (27th) and Sangkar Kom (45th, 57th) with Joychandra scoring AMOFA's consolation goal in added period.
KFC (Kakching), RACC (Churachandpur) and YWC (Thambalkhong) are the other teams that participated in the tournament organised by AMFA under the AFC's Vision India Project.
