Imphal, February 24 2009: At least three persons, including a driver, were killed instantly when a truck they were traveling fell in a pitch near Mao Gate along National Highway 39 this morning around 5, according to police source.

The unpacked truck was heading toward Imphal when the incident occurred at a place 12 kilometres away from the Mao police station.

The victims have been identified as Daikho Atuli (37) s/o D Makupa of Tadubi, Nunu (25) s/o Kumar of Silchar presently staying at Mao Gate, and Repu (18) s/o Deba.

The registration Number of the ill-fated truck bears NL-01-3258.The bodies were handed over to their respective families this evening.
