Unabated IM-ZUF clash worries ZU

Imphal, November 23 2011:
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) has expressed deep concern over continued conflict between two Naga armed groups, NSCN (IM) and ZUF, in Nungba area, particularly, in Khoupum.
In a statement, General Secretary of ZU (AMN) K Poushinglung said that it is unfortunate that frequent armed clashes between the two Naga armed groups has resulted in killing of one ZUF cadre and five NSCN (IM) cadres and a civilian driver.
The two warring groups are still camping in Khoupum area disturbing normal life of the villagers.
Appealing to the two warring groups to shun violence and help in maintaining conducive atmosphere in view of the approaching annual examinations of the students, Christmas and the progress in the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk, the Union has also appreciated the efforts being by Khoupum Area Peace Forum towards restoration of peace and normalcy in the region.
