The relief camp opened for migrant labourers at Dharamsala here in the aftermath of killing of non-local labourers by unidentified gunmen has been closed from today.
The State Govt distributed ex-gratia of Rs one lakh each to families of three slain non-local labourers.
The campers who stayed back at the camp till today were also given Rs 300 each.
The ex-gratia amounts were distributed by Imphal West DC A Ibocha during a simple function that marked the closure of the camp today.
The function was also attended by Imphal Bazar Board chairman Amrik Singh Pahwa.
Speaking at the occasion, A Ibocha said that the Government would take up maximum measures to thwart such incidents of killing non-local people in future.
He also hailed the measures taken up by Amrik Singh Pahwa for the safety of migrant labourers.
Conveying contentment over the assistance provided by the Government, Amrik Singh appealed to the campers to facilitate peaceful co-existence.
