Imphal, February 28 2009:
A three-day seminar on "Sustainable Hill Agriculture" organized by the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal, was inaugurated today at the RIMS Jubilee Hall, according to a release of SV Ngachan, director, ICAR, RCNEHR said.
The inaugural function was presided over by Dr SN Puri, VC, CAU, Imphal and Dr AK Singh, DDG (NRM), ICAR, New Delhi as the chief guest.
Dr SV Ngachan, Director ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Meghalaya; Dr BC Viraktamath, Director, Directorate of Rice Research, Hyderabad; Dr N Iboton, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal were the Guests of Honour, the release said.
Dr AK Singh opened a Farmers' Fair cum Exhibition, which was also held during the seminar.
Farmers from Chandel and Churachandpur districts have participated in the Fair.
Among others, stalls of National Mini Mission, Department of Horticulture, Government of Manipur and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thoubal, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Andro, CAU Imphal and KVK Imphal West were the star attractions, it said.
