Under the initiative of Agriculture Department, the Kumbi Kendra Development Committee has decided to adopt SRI method of cultivation in 70 hectares of paddy field in and around Kumbi.
Paddy seeds for first cropping under SRI method in 20 hectares at Kumbi, 15 hectares in Wangoo Santhel, 15 hectares in Salankonjil and Mahadev, 10 hectares in Sagolpak and another 10 hectares in the surrounding areas were distributed at Kumbi Tera Kha today.
Speaking at the occasion, ICDP (Rice) Scheme in-charge L Ibomcha noted the need to raise crop productivity in view of the increasing population.
To raise crop productivity, farmers should cultivate high yielding and hybrid varieties like PAC 407 and IR-64, he said.
Agriculture SE K Manoranjan said that the Agriculture Department has ordered for paddy transplanter machine.
Oilseeds, Pulses and SUBACS scheme in-charge Ch Jugindro was also present at the function.
