Imphal, March 30 2009: A total of 9277 strip of Actifed capsule worth around Rs 2,78,310 recovered by the volunteers of AMADA from a drug dealer at Thangal Bazar on March 16 last have been destroyed by burning today at Chnigmei Panchayat Lampak, according to a statement of the body conducting against drug abuse and alcohol.

The destroyed capsules, even though use as life saving drug has been wrongly using by the youths in the state as intoxicant items, the statement of the AMADA said adding that the item was collected by the volunteers from the ASI Courier, Thangal Bazar on March 16 last.

AMADA estimated the price of the burnt down 9277 strips at Rs 2,78,310 as it is available at Rs 30 per strip at the local market even though the normal price Actifed is Rs 6.40 per strip at company rate.

The burning down of the item is a part of the continuing drive against abuse of drugs and alcohol in the state by the volunteers of AMADA, the statement went on to claim.
