12 hurt in bus mishap

Imphal, August 07 2009: At least 12 passengers injured when a bus plying along the Imphal-Churachandpur route met with accident at Meitram Awang Leikai under Nambol police station today around 8.15 am.

Among the injured, six including five who sustained seriously were evacuated at RIMS hospital, Imphal for medical treatment.

The ill-fated bus (Luxmi Express MN-M01-1164) met with the accident when it slipped down on the road side drainage when one bus moving in front of it suddenly stop.

The bus was reportedly moving closed to the roadside drainage to give way to a convoy of army coming from opposite direction.

The six injured passengers hospitalized at RIMS hospital were Huidrom Maipak (52) wife of late Khongnem of Ishok Awang Leikai, Huidrom Mema (50) wife of Tolen of Ishok, Wairokpam Mema (58) wife of Maipak of Leimapokpam Makha Leikai, Ashem Yaimabi (55) wife of Modhu, Wangkhem Thoibi wife of Nila and Wairokpam Kesho (28) son of late Gandhi.
