Imphal, March 03 2011: Pressing for repeal of the Armed Forces (Special) Power Act, 1958, members of the International Manipuri Mothers' Association staged and indefinite silent sit-down protest in front of a temple at Sangaipat from today.

The association's vice-president, Jibanmala said that the silent sit-down protest, under the leadership of its president Khuman Leima, will continue till AFSPA is removed from the state.

In Hojai in Assam, another silent sit-down protest will be staged on March 12, she said asserting that the association is planning to stage such protests across the state.

She stated the state has encountered enough atrocities under the AFSPA.
