Manipuris in Bengaluru observe Patriots' day

Imphal, August 20 2014: Manipuris residing in Bengaluru observed the 123rd Patriots' Day at a function held at the premises of Karnataka Hockey Association on August 17 last, according to a statement issued by Dinesh Wangkhem, Joint Secretary and Publicity & Communication Secretary of Manipuri Meitei Association, Bangalore.

Jointly hosted by MMAB and BMSA, Bengaluru, the observance was marked by painting competition, recitation competition, Arm wrestling competition and symposium competition.

A "mukna" exhibition match was also held during the observance which was belatedly held on Sunday to gather maximum participation.

Dr..WBudhendra, T L Singha and Basanth Singha attended the function as Chief Guest, President and guest of honor respectively.

Commenced with an opening song presented by MMAB and BMSA members, the function was also marked by floral tributes to the Manipuri patriots who laid down their lives while fighting against the mighty British force during the Anglo-Manipuri war of 1891 .
