Relay hunger strike completes

Imphal, December 09 2009: The relay hunger strike launching by the Sharmila Kanba Lup at the gate of the Ladies Hostel of the JNIMS, Prorompat has completed 355 days today.

The protest with the voice "Save Shamila" was started from December 10 last year on which world is observing as International Human Rights Day every year.

On the eve of the one-year completion of the strike, around 200 volunteers of District Women Committee (DWC) UNM, Imphal East took part in the relay hunger strike.

Women participating in the relay hunger strike appealed women of the state to take part in the hunger strike as part of participation in the International Fortnight Observation Protesting against Violence against Women organising by the Women Action for Development (WCAD) .
