Imphal, November 05 2010: Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi, Inner Manipur MP, Dr T Meinya and president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and MLA Gaikhangam have extended heartiest greetings to people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali festival.

In a message of greetings, Governor, Gurbachan Jagat said, "Diwali, which marks the return of Bhagavan Ram to Ayodhya after victory over 'Ravana', symbolises the final victory of virtue over vice and triumph of good over evil.

It is an occasion to promote good-will and understanding amongst people of all castes, creeds and religions.

Let the lights of 'Diwali' dispel hostility, conflict, mistrust and disaffection among the people" .

Chief Minister O Ibobi, in his message said that Diwali is a festival symbolising the victory of good over evil.

"People celebrate the festival by illuminating their homes to dispel darkness to evoke the blessing of gooddess Lakshmi.

Let us imbibe the ideals associated with this festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in our lives" .
