Imphal, March 05 2009:: Please refer to the letter to the Editor published in the March 5 issue of this paper under the caption 'Response to Athuan Abonmai's allegations and charges.' Our sincere apologies to Mr Abonmai for tarnishing his image by publishing the letter, which was not only defamatory, but also in very poor taste.

There was no wilful intention on our part in publishing that said letter and it was due to a gross over sight that it appeared in the Letter to the Editor column.

We also urge the writers of the letter, Messrs K Gonmei and R Newmai, both from Tamenglong district headquarters, as given in the letter, to contact the office of The Sangai Express to clarify the issue.

Once again our regrets for publishing the letter which sought to tarnish the image of Mr Abonmai who is a well known personality not only in Tamenglong district but also in the whole of Manipur - Editor.
