Imphal, December 15: Responding to the call of the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup, People's Action Development (PAD), NH-53 organised a public meeting cum sit-in-protest demonstration at New Keithelmanbi in Senapati district demanding repealing of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 from Manipur.

The public meeting cum protest demonstration attended by around 200 people belonging to various communities like Kuki Kharam, Meetei, etc proceeded with assistant co-ordinator of the Apunba Lup K Sunil, member of Apunba Lup Sanajaoba, vice president of PAD Ngamthang Khongsai, secretary general PAD Sh Abraham Kharam and president of New Keithelmanbi Meira Paibi Lup Kh Mitkhubi as presidium members.

The meeting unanimously resolved to work together between the Hill and the Valley people towards achieving the demand for repealing the draconian Act, save the life of Irom Chanu Sharmila who has been on fast for more than six years demanding scrapping of the repressive army Act, and protect innocent civilians from the atrocities of the security forces.

Addressing at the occasion, Sunil called upon the people to continue with their support to the cause of removal of the draconian Act for which Irom Chanu Sharmila has been struggling and fasting for the last more than six years.
