A former cadre of PULF who has been staying with Assam Rifles was shot dead yesterday night by some unidentified gunmen at Koijam village, 10 kms North East of Kakching police station.
The deceased is identified as Md Azad Khan (31) of Keirao, Imphal East.
It is reported that Azad Khan was earlier a cadre of PULF.
According to family members, he had been with 21 Assam Rifles posted at Kakching Lamkhai since a long time back.
The corpse was found today morning at Koijam village which was retrieved by police at around 10:30 am after they were informed by the villagers.
A bullet mark was observed on each cheek of the deceased which went through the opposite sides.
With the registration of a case in Kakching police station, the deceased was handed over to family members after post mortem at Lilong PHC.
UGs held: Three activists of KCP were arrested by Imphal West commandos from different places.
A statement issued by SP Imphal West Clay Khongsai informed that two KCP activists identified as Sarangthem Deban (39) and Aheibam Robindro, both belonging to Chingnungkhok Mamang Leikai were nabbed with a .38 revolver during frisking exercise at Kongpal Iranphamt-hong today at around 1:45 pm.
Further, another cadre of the same outfit identified as Paonam Menjor of Thoubal Kiyam Bazar was apprehended today at around 2:10 pm from North AOC.
It is reported that Paonam Menjor is the Finance-in-chief of KCP City Meitei.
On the other hand, one PLA cadre identified as Ingoba (45) of Nongren was handed over to Lamlai police station after he was held by 19 AR from Nongren yesterday, informed a PIB (DW) release.
It further said that Chirom Nabadeep alias Naba (42) of Mayang Imphal, a cadre of KYKL was arrested by troops of 22 Maratha LI from Mayang Imphal yesterday.
Nabadeep was handed over to Mayang Imphal police station, added the release.
Imphal East District Police Commandos have also apprehended on KNF activist during frisking and checking along National Highway 39 in the vicinity of Koirengei Old Airfield today.
According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East District L Kailun, the arrested KNF activist has been identified as Doukhomang Kuki alias Mark Kuki (35) s/o Hekai Kuki of Khenjang, CCpur District.
On his preliminary verification, Doukhomang disclosed that he joined the outfit in Nov 2004 through one self style president Samuel of KNF, the statement said, adding he is now holding the rank of public relation officer of the outfit.
