'Apart from causing more suffering and untold miseries to the common people, no secessionist movement have been ever successful', Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has stated while addressing on the occasion of observance of Rashtriya Sankalap Diwas (National Re-organisation Day) here today.
In his address as chief guest of the function organised by the State Government at Ist MR ground to mark the 22nd death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, the Chief Minister said secessionist movement being launched in North Eastern States including Manipur would be never successful.
Stating that no secessionist movement have been ever successful the world over apart from causing more suffering to the common people, the Chief Minister said the observance of Rashriya Sangkalap Diwas is all the more relevant in the backdrop of these secessionist movement.
The Diwas is being observed in recognition of the supreme sacrifice made by Indira Gandhi for the integrity and unity of the country.
India is firm against any forces of disintegration and has never compromise on this point, he said, adding, likewise Manipur would not compromise on the question of its unity and integrity.
The Chief Minister further said that any movement launched with vested interest of a group of people or community in mind would never bear fruit.
Disagreement or complaint , if there is any, could be resolved through democratic means.
Violence is not the mean and it would only retard the pace of development, he said.
Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat, who presided over the function said Manipur is in a state of turmoil today with numerous armed outfits operating in the name of liberation movement.
No development could be possible in Manipur as along as there is no peace, he added.
The Minister pointed out that causing disturbance in the movement of the transporters in connection with the demand for revival of die-in-harness scheme thereby causing inconveniences to the people is not the right thing.
People should not be made to suffer in the interest of few handful of people, remarked.
Rashtriya Sankalap Diwas was also observed at Congress Bhavan by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee today.

Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing, former party president Phungza-thang Tonsing, party MLAs and workers offered floral tributes to the photograph of Indira Gandhi at the occasion.
State unit Congress president Gaikhangam also administered oath to the congregation to re-dedicate themselves for the cause of protecting the integrity of the country.
