Maid 'raped', accused absconding

A 27 year old woman who has been working as a domestic helper at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai has been allegedly raped repeatedly by the house owner.
Even though wife of the accused has been handed over to police, the accused originally from Ningthoukhong Mamang Leikai but staying at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai has been absconding.
The victim was employed in his house as a domestic helper since September.
It was on the seventh since the victim moved into the house, she was allegedly raped by Premjit.
She was raped again after a gap of two days.
Even as the victim narrated the whole incident to the wife of the accused, the victim was asked not to disclose the incident to anybody.
Again, the victim was threatened by the couple with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anybody.
On October 13, the victim's menstrual cycle stopped though it was expected on the same day.
She went to doctor for medical examination without informing her employers but she could not get an appointment.
It was yesterday when the couple started bashing up the victim, that she fled from the house.
On seeing the victim running away from the house in a frightened manner, some local people halted and enquired about her problems.
At this, the victim narrated the horrifying experience she suffered at the hands of the couple.
Finally, local people brought the victim to the Young Women's Help Organisation today.
It is reported that the parents of the victim have expired and she was living with a disabled brother under abject poverty.
It was out of poverty she went to other people's houses to work as a domestic helper.
"I would never live with brutes like these people, even if they offer me all.
What I want is justice and exemplary punishment for the rapist", the victim cried out.
Young Women's Help Organisation secretary A Robita said that the wife has been pulled up.
Robita also asked the absconding husband to surrender at the earliest.
At the same time, she urged police to book the rape accused immediately.
