Imphal, July 25 2010:
A public meeting held today at Moirang Hanuba Community Hall, Tera Bazar resolved to convert NH-53 as the lifeline of the state.
The meeting was organized by Kangleipak Ngalhanba Apunba Lup (KANGAL) and M Indramani, President of KANGAL, Dr N Joykumar, Professor of History, MU, P Tomcha, Advocate of Gauhati High Court and other dignitaries adorned the dais.
The meeting many other resolutions like improving the conditions of NH-53 without any hindrances, to urge the Central Government to make special arrangement for keeping adequate stock of petroleum products, essential commodities and fertilizers in the state.
Until the stock position is normalized, the Central Government should airlift these items to the state.
The Central Government should provide fool proof security along the NH-53 and ensure security to the safe passage vehicles.
The state government and central government should initiate necessary steps to frame a re-imbursement/compensation policy for re-imbursement of taxes collected from goods and vehicles of the state and also for payment of compensation for causing casualties and damages to goods and vehicle by groups engaged in peace-talk with the government of India and their frontal organizations.
The state authorities should announced the official fares/freight charge and prices of goods and essential commodities fixed by the government.
The state government should immediately provide proper accommodation to the passengers stranded on the national highways and also takes up appropriate steps with the Central authorities to reduce the passengers fares of airlines operating in the stay in addition to increasing of frequency of flights.
