Tamenglong, March 05 2009::
Reacting to the allegation about misuse of IAY fund meant for Tamenglong district raised by one David Kamei, secretary of Tamenglong Public Forum and published in some local dailies on March 2, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong RH Gonmei has clarified that names of beneficiaries for IAY scheme are proposed by village authorities and forwarded to the work agency (DRDA) by the concerned Block Development Officers.
As such, DRDA has nothing to do with any discrepancy, if there is, in the selection procedure, he stated.
Talking to this correspondent today at his office chamber, RH Gonmei also refuted the allegation that he convened a meeting on October 8 when he was in charge of DC Tamenglong district.
Maintaining that he did not convene any meeting during his stint as head of the district administration, RH Gonmei said a general body meeting of the DRDA Tamenglong was held on the same day with the then DC Devesh Deval in the chair.
Saying that MLAs of Tamenglong, Tamei A/Cs, MP Mani Charenamei, RH Gonmei himself and other DRDA nominees were also present in the meeting, the ADC clarified that no fund was released nor names of beneficiaries proposed or approved during the meeting.
RH Gonmei further explained that the amount (Rs 1,55,56,700) mentioned by David Kamei was only the first instalment for the fiscal year 2008-09 and the number of beneficiaries given by him were only targeted for the fiscal year.
He added that final bills are yet to be released.
Regarding the BJP Yuva Morcha's demand for his transfer, the ADC said that he has no grudge about his place of posting.
