Imphal, November 03 2009:
All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Co-Ordination Committee has said that all the recognised private institutions of the State would be compelled to surrender recognition certificates/orders if their demands are not met by November 7 .
The committee today submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi highlighting the plights of the students and private educational institutions of the State on the backdrop of the current class boycott clamped by AMSU, MSF and KSA.
The memorandum said that as per the guidelines laid down in the curriculum and syllabus of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary, Education Manipur, the minimum teaching days must be 160 days for Class X on the last teaching day of November of the year preceding the examination and 180 days for Class XI and XII on the last teaching day of February of the year preceding the examination.
However, the memorandum added, so far only about 90 days for upto Class X and 35 days for Class XI and 60 days for Class XII could be used.
Urging the Chief Minister to make every possible effort for the resumption of regular classes, the memorandum said that unless normal classes are resumed at the earliest, the chance of the State students of losing the precious academic year is looming large.
It also drew attention of O Ibobi saying that the present impasse affects most financially to those who serve the private educational institutions.
The memorandum also urged upon Chief Minister Okram Ibobi to make arrangement to grant appropriate financial assistance/relief to all the affected private educational institutions assuming it as a natural calamity of education.
