The Tipaimukh dam and the Loktak Downstream project may have been deleted from the itinerary of the Prime Minister's visit, but Dr Manmohan Singh is likely to announce the stand of the Centre on the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act when he visits the State on December 2.Disclosing this to The Sangai Express a well placed source said that the Prime Minister is most likely to give a public statement on the decision of the Centre on the said Act.
The Prime Minister is also expected to announce 5/6 package for the State during his visit, said the source and added that upgradation of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences to the status of All India Institute of Medical Sciences may be announced.
However the regional character and status of RIMS will not be affected, added the source.
The upcoming visit of the Prime Minister was discussed in minute details during a meeting of the SPF MLAs held this evening at the CM's residence.
