Imphal, January 02:
All Manipur Secondary School Teachers' Association has extended its gratitude for the safe release of the five officials of the Education Department from the custody of the KYKL.
The decision of the outfit would have been prompted by the mass public appeals for their release as well as the assurance given by the Chief Minister to conduct an enquiry into the allegation and accord punishment accordingly, the president of AMSSTA said in a press statement.
While noting that the drive against corruption spearheaded by the outfit was very peculiar, the statement maintained that everyone knew that it had been necessitated as the State Government has failed to take up appropriate measures to save the education system from its present sorry state of affairs.
This itself is something really shameful for the Government, the statement said.
It further exhorted that the recent verdict of the outfit against the six officials should be taken as warning by all the employees in the Education Department and teachers.
It is high time that the State Government also take up measures to implementation of Code of Professional Ethics for Teachers formulated by NCERT in the State, the statement added.
