MPP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission to take up action against a lecturer of Moirang Government College who, in alleged violation of the model code of conduct, canvassed for the Congress party in connection with the by-election to the Moirang Assembly Constituency due to be held on December 27 .
In the complaint, general secretary (election) of MPP S Dilip Singh asserted that in sheer violation of the model code of conduct for the by-election Y Modhu Singh who is a lecturer in Moirang Government College shared the platform with Congress leaders and addressed the public to vote for the Congress candidate at the occasion of 93rd birth anniversary function of the former Chief Minister M Koireng held at Moirang Chengei ground on Dec 19 .
Being a Govt servant he should not be allowed too openly address the public and canvas for the ruling party candidate, MPP petitioned.
Acting on the complaint, Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur has directed RO Moirang as well as Principal Secretary of Higher Education to submit their reports within Dec 24 .
