With hunger striker Irom Sharmila Chanu reportedly expressing desire to meet Central leaders, human rights defenders overseeing her agitation at the National capital have officially sought appointments with the President, prime Minister and the Home Minister.
Even though no explicit responses have been received from the Central leaders to the appointment proposal, Planning Commission
Member Sahida Amit on meeting Sharmila assured Commission Member Sahida Amit on meeting Sharmila assured her (Amit) all possible initiative to fix the appointments, informed rights activist Babloo Loitongbam from New Delhi.
In addition to Sahida, well known Supreme Court lawyer Prasant Bhusan and other important personalities had interactions with the 38 year old Sharmila at her Jantar Mantar agitation site, Babloo maintained.
In solidarity with Sharmila's relentless protest against imposition of the repressive AFSPA 1958 a team of Apunba Lup is informed to have reached New delhi today.
Babloo also conveyed of state delegation's strong displeasure over callousness of Manipur MPs and other State figures to inquire Sharmila's condition whose health is said to have slightly deteriorated.
Medical personnel from a nearby hospital are said to have arrived and enquired on Sharmila's problem but the lady refused to oblige treatment proposal.
