Delhi agrees to defer talk

Imphal, May 29 2011:
The Union Home Ministry has agreed to indefinite postponement of the tripartite talk involving the United Naga Council (UNC), the State Government and Government of India scheduled to held tomorrow (May 30) at Senapati.
An official source informed that the State Cabinet deliberated on the failure of the UNC to spell the demands/issues in advance which would be discussed at the tripartite talk, and subsequently wrote to the Union Ministry to the postpone the scheduled talk.
Though the Union Home Ministry has agreed to put off the tripartite talk, no date has been fixed for the next round of talk.
Earlier, the State Government was preparing to send Information and Public Relations Minister TN Haokip, Education Minister DD Thaisii and IFC Minister N Biren as its delegates to the tripartite talk, now postponed.
The Centre should have been represented by Secretary (Internal Affairs) UK Bansal and Joint Secretary (North East) Shambhu Singh.
