JAC scoffs at boycott stand

Imphal, January 22 2010: Reacting to the recent public meeting that resolved to boycott the Sanjit JAC, Khurai a statement issued today by the JAC dismissed the resolution as an outcome of intense bickering intended to malign image and undermine commitment of the JAC functionaries.

Asserting that, at no point of time during the agitation period had the JAC deviated from spirit or agenda of movement charted by the Apunba Lup, the statement also claimed that those who were instrumental in taking the decision for social boycott of the JAC functionaries were mean and quarrelsome individuals with vested interest.

Further contending that identities of those individuals and their roles in the meeting resolution had been traced out, the JAC statement issued by its convenor affirmed unflinching support to the Apunba Lup in the endeavour to protect human rights and expose extra-judicial activities of security forces.

Regarding the agreement reached between representatives of agitating bodies and the Govt that resulted in the calling off the over month long agitation, the convenor expressed that as the July 23 BT road firing incident had been handed over to the CBI for investigation findings of the probe agency would certainly bring out the entire truth based on which appropriate action could be initiated against the guilty ones.

The convenor also informed that Lanna Thouram of Ch Sanjit would be held on January 29 .
